I was very happy that Carmmal and Daryl chose me to capture their engagement photos and be their wedding photographer. They picked the small historic town of Oysterville Washington for the preparation and ceremony. The vernacular architecture of the buildings were impressive and set the scene for a beautiful wedding location.

Nain – Senior Photos at Battery Russell
Nain is a recent graduate from Astoria High School. He debated between the River Walk and Battery Russell for his session, but wind and rain was a factor, so Battery Russell looked like the best option for his one-hour session.
I love this old military base location for the amazing colors and textures. The aged concrete with grafitti and weathering is simply amazing. Nain did pretty awesome too.
A little fact, he grew up in Astoria, and is considered royalty after being named Prom King. 😉
Nain plans to attend Oregon State University with a forestry major. Best of luck to Nain!
Sharpe Family Session – Sun and Great Fall Colors
Family photo sessions are always a blast when the location is full of great colors and the weather is amazing (not always something you can predict around Astoria). For the Sharpe Family, we had a great time creating some different groupings around their gorgeous property.
The golden wheat field we used was awesome. There was quite a bit of picking out the stickers from my socks later, but I’d say it was worth it.
Yes, the family dog was very photogenic as well. Another bonus.
Overall the photo session was very relaxed and I always love working with such friendly people.
Nikki – Senior Photos Fort Clatsop in Warrenton
Nikki was a blast to work with. Graduating from Warrenton High School this year, she rocked her senior photo session.
Her session took place near Fort Clatsop, which was a great location with interesting trees, a bridge and a boardwalk.
We lucked out with the weather. It was pouring rain just prior to our starting time, but thankfully the sun came out and the recent rain added to making the trees, ground and sky even better.
She’s a McMinnville native and looks to return to there to attend college with a biology major.
Best of luck to Nikki in her future!
Engagement Session on the beach – Carmmal & Daryl
Engagement session photos are one my favorite types of sessions. They are low pressure, fun, and a great way to work with the couple prior to their wedding.
With Carmmal & Daryl's future wedding located close to the coast, they loved the idea of taking engagement photos on the beach. This session took place earlier in the year and prior to our scheduled date, the weather was somewhat cold. However, on the day of our session, it was almost 80 degrees out. When it’s warm at the beach, it is crowded. That was an understatement for when we started out at Hug Point. Was I worried? Nope. Time to make some magic happen.
The sun was beyond bright, so it helped in creating an epic silhouette
During this photo, the person with the kite was unplanned, but when this moment happened, I could tell it was awesome. Their dog Titan, agreed.
We moved to Cannon Beach near Haystack Rock for the final images.
As the sun dropped, the color intensified and let to some fun and creativity,
Weston – newborn session with parents
Weston is such a cute little baby, don’t you agree? I’m so happy to share some of the photographs I took of him and his parents.
Dad had some awesome tattoos on his fingers, so this pose worked great to show them off along with Weston's ample hair.
With mom a simple pose and a simple background makes for a truly timeless image.
Congratulations Lindsay and Derek on your beautiful family.
Engagement Session – Beautiful Lake and dock – Angela & Scott
I appreciated the opportunity to photograph Angela and Scott’s engagement photos prior to their 2018 wedding.
They choose a beautiful lake location just outside of Astoria. We had plenty of fun working around the dock and shore. I had a blast with the couple, who were very easy and fun to be around. They were great at being up for making fun spontaneous photos as well as traditional posed ones.
The benefit of an engagement session is it’s a low stress time to work together, have fun and get a feel for posing together prior to the wedding day.
Here are some of my favorite photos from their session.
Family Session – Overalls and Fun
I love it when I get to photograph a family every year. For these family pictures they wanted a theme with overalls and their garden. Hard to resist this great idea, so we worked to create a variety of fun and timeless poses. Trust me we had a fun time mixing up the serious expressions and smiles. I choose to share the smiles on the blog, but I’m sure the family will pick one of the serious expression photos for their yearly canvas.
Here are some of my favorites from the session. Enjoy.
Jade – Senior portraits at Young’s River Falls
2017 High School Seniors are approaching graduation, Here's another recent senior session. My senior branded website can be found at http://www.astoriaseniorphotography.com
Jade is a very fun senior from Astoria High School. She choose the awesome Young’s River Falls for the location for her senior portraits. This spot makes great backgrounds with the falls, greenery, interesting moss-covered rocks and cool textures. All of this is essential in creating variety when using one location in your session.
It was an overcast day, so the warm and bright look comes with using lighting. For Jade’s session there was a mixture of lighting modifiers to also create variety and achieve the goal of keeping her from blending into the background.
I had a great time working with Jade, and I’m always thrilled when the seniors love their images. Join me wishing her a great future as she moves through this major milestone.
Sarah – Senior Photos Shively Park – Astoria
2017 High School Seniors are approaching graduation, so for the next two months I'll be featuring senior sessions on my blog. My senior branded website can be found at http://www.astoriaseniorphotography.com
Sarah’s senior session was certainly a legit winter session. There was snow on the ground, which was something that is not very typical in most of my senior sessions.
It was obviously on the colder side, but from most of the photos you probably can’t tell. Sarah was awesome at dealing with that issue. I did love one of the first photos we created incorporating the snow. Later in life she can recount how back in the day we had do our senior photos in the snow. 🙂
Sarah is a 2017 senior at Astoria High School. I loved the fact that she could bring fierce and friendly expressions.
Congratulations on reaching your senior year. Wishing you the best of luck in your future.
