I always love the opportunity to create beautiful photographs of newborns. Baby Eliza however did what most newborns do, perk up when it’s time for photos. This means that time and patience are required to get posed sleepy photos.
This was the second baby I photographed for parents Christy and Dan, so they knew that it was okay to relax and let things happen when they happened. I believe the results were well worth it.
This Fall wedding was at the lovely Summit Grove Lodge in Ridgefield, Washington. The weather in the fall is often quite rainy in the Pacific Northwest, so the couple decided on playing it safe with an indoor ceremony, but the weather worked out great and allowed for outdoor creative bridal photos and family group photos.
The wooden doors in the bridal suite made for a great backdrop to photograph the wedding dress.
The guys prepped in the man-cave (yes, that's what it's was actually called). Ha ha.
The bride had an army of bridesmaids, so it was fun to surround her and create this photo.
The couple opted to do a first reveal. Of course it lead to an epic first reveal kiss as well.
The outside of Summit Grove Lodge had many interesting and cool props to stand around for bridal photos.
This is one of my favorite images as the bride made her way from the suite to the ceremony.

Family Fall Session time is here. Of course the weather doesn’t always cooperate, but when it does, Fall colors brings extra beauty to locations. Astoria and the Oregon North Coast offer many great locations for family photos. The holidays are fast approaching, so now is a good time to get new family photos checked off your list. This was my second time photographing the Hill family here in Astoria. It was a bittersweet session because they wanted family photos in Astoria prior to moving away to Virginia. There are many great locations around Astoria, but it’s hard to ignore the Astoria Megler Bridge. This spot was the first destination for our session, posing on the rocks with the bridge behind. The passing cargo ship was a bonus.
The Hill family were a lot of fun to work with. We all had fun waving and doing extra poses for the passing Trolley along the Riverwalk. The second background we used were these rustic gray doors. I love this photograph of the family. Overall a very fun session with a great family.

Zachary was such a charmer during his session. He did put up a fight not to sleep, so some extra patience was required (which is why you never want to rush a newborn session).
Dad is a big baseball fan, so this was an extra fun photo to create.
Big sister really loves her little brother too.
Set in rural Union Oregon, Kelli and Kyle’s wedding day was beautiful and very special to the bride’s father who is currently battling Pancreatic cancer. One of his big wishes was to see his daughter getting married. It all came together with family and friends helping out. Somewhat bittersweet, but a day filled with love that was fun and will always be remembered. These are some of my favorite moments from the day.
The triplets recently had their first birthday. We took them out to create a special photograph celebrating the occasion. The old barn in Bend, was a fantastic location with interesting textures and colors that worked great with the outfits and props chosen. Photographing triplets is no easy feat, but with some known tricks I was able to pull it off. Amazing to think how fast time flies by.
For this newborn session, the parents had been given this custom made blanket for their baby boy. I combined it with a few of my other props to create a series of photos for them. Once again the great part of personal props is they have meaning, plus the parents can thank the gift giver with a photo showing the prop in use. A great reason to think of ways gifts you received can be used in your newborn session.
I absolutely loved this custom made headpiece from a recent newborn session (that was made by the baby’s aunt). The fact that it was made just for her makes it extra special and it was certainly a crowning final touch on stylizing the session. The parents loved the resulting photograph of their beautiful newborn daughter.
